This trail offers everything a trail runner could wish for on an Alpine marathon course: challenging ascents, a breathtaking panorama and technically demanding sections around what is arguably the most beautiful high-lying valley in the Alps.

From the Promulins Arena, the route leads through Samedan to Muntarütsch, where the alpine path to the Alp Muntatsch presents you with the first ascent of the day. Even before you reach the alp, you are treated to wonderful views of the Bernina massif and across St. Moritz to the Piz da la Margna. From the Alp Muntatsch, the path is relatively flat as far as the Alp Munt, from where it continues along the panorama trail below the Piz Padella towards the Marguns summit station. It then leads via Laret down to the chic resort of St. Moritz. The short route through the world-famous spa resort with its elegant boutiques is somewhat unusual for a trail runner, but it nevertheless has its own charm. In St. Moritz, the route continues along the forest path past the Segantini Museum to Somplaz and down to the Signal aerial cableway. This marks the start of the next ascent through the forest to the beautiful Hahnensee lake. From here, a flowing high-altitude trail leads to Muottas da Schlarigna, along which St. Moritz can repeatedly be seen from a different perspective. The descent to Pontresina is quite technical in the forest and requires your full attention. In Pontresina, the path passes by the Gemeinde- und Kulturzentrum, from where you tackle the long ascent to the Segantini Hut. At the hut, you have reached the highest point of the tour and at the same time one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Engadin. Subsequently, you head downhill to the Val Muragl, from where the route climbs a little for the last time. Once you have passed Muottas Muragl, the last descent of the day begins. The last section in particular demands absolute concentration, before the path takes you along the Gravatschasee and the River Inn and back to the Promulins Arena. There are a number of good eating facilities along this route as it leads through the resorts of St. Moritz and Pontresina, as well as past various attractive mountain huts and restaurants.

The tour can also be run in stages.

Watch out for the Swiss stone pines at Muottas da Schalrgina, some are over 1000 years old.
