This long trail leads you through pristine alpine scenery which is rather far away from civilisation. That's why we strongly recommend to bring adequate provisions as well as warm clothes and rain protection with you.
Distance 33.1 km
You start at the Tourist Information in La Punt. Past the village square of Chamues-ch, the trail leads you on the gravel road into the Val Chamuera. In the center of the valley at 2'16 m above sea level, you find an astonishing building with perfect architectural structures. This was the most important alpine farm hut of the Canton of Grisons built in the 19th century. Originally a dairy, it was inhabited in winter, too, until 1836. Here you make a sharp left turn. After the Alp Timun you take the steep ascent to the Fuorcla Chaschauna up at 2'802 m where a veritable lunar landscape and often strong winds await you. On the other side of the pass, the occasionally very steep descent into the Val Chaschauna begins where your trail joins the route of the National Park Bike Marathon. Past the Alp Chaschauna, you follow the gravel road that leads to S-chanf. At the Alp Vaüglia Suot you switch to the left side of the valley. Then take the hiking path through the forest above S-chanf that will bring you, with slight ups and downs, back to La Punt - while offering you beautiful views of Zuoz, Madulain and the golf course.
Observe the rocks around the Fuorcla Chaschauna closely and you might spot an ibex or a chamois. Or look up at the sky where bearded vultures or golden eagles love to wheel.
